Christmas Tag Swap

I know that many people don’t like talking about Christmas in September, but I have finally realized that I need to start at least thinking about it now!! I’m sure like some of you, I always have big plans of what I’ll be making for the holidays and it just never seems to get done. My good friend and fellow Demo, Chrystal organizes a Christmas Tag Swap every year so I knew that if I wanted to get a head start on my Christmas projects this would be a good way to do it! Everyone who signed up had to make 10 identical tags and in return would get 10 different tags back. Here are 2 pictures of the tag I did; I typically go for a brighter style when it comes to Christmas tags but this year I wanted to try something different and designed a vintage looking one…..I hope you like it and it encourages you to get a head start on your Christmas projects!

Fall Is In The Air

I don’t know about you, but my favourite season has to be the Fall! Now, don’t get me wrong, I love the warm weather and being able to just leave the house in a pair of cute sandals and no jacket, but there is just something about the fall that gives me a calming sense. Maybe it’s because it is the season in between the busyness of summer and the craziness of Christmas!! The warm days and cool nights, the beautiful colours of the changing leaves, spending time with family for Thanksgiving….would you not agree that it is just the best time of year? To celebrate this wonderful season and the Holiday Mini Catalogue, I am holding my Gently Falling class next Tuesday; when you attend you will get 1/2 a pack of the lovely Spice Cake DSP that you’ll use to create 5 beautiful cards and a matching box (whatever DSP you have leftover at the end of the class you can bring home with you!). Last week I posted a few sneak peaks of the box you can make and 1 of the cards, so today I thought I’d share another one of the cards you will make.

I still have some spots available and would love you to join me on Sept 20th for this class! Email me at melissa@stampingforthestars.com to reserve your spot today!

Cute as a Button!

This past Sunday I held my Button Buddies 3×3 Card Class! The ladies who attended had a great time and walked away with a very cute box and 8 super cute 3×3 cards, that were all decorated with Stampin’ Up! Brights Designer Buttons. The class fee included 1/2 a package of the buttons, and whatever they had left over at the end of the class they got to take home to use on future creations (or to re-create the cards we made at the class)! The Button Buddies stamp set is new in this year’s Idea Book & Catalogue, and as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to do a class around it…..the addition of the Designer Buttons makes these cards that much cuter!! Here are a few pictures of the box and cards we made.

For the piggy card above I got the idea to use a button as a balloon from fellow Canadian Demonstrator Heather Summers (you can check out here original card HERE)

If you weren’t able to attend this class, we could always re-create it at a private class with your friends & family! Contact me at melissa@stampingforthestars.com for more details

I Have a Confession…..I Am a Hoarder!!

Yes, I’ve said it!! I’m not a Hoarder like the ones you see on TLC; I hoard accessories! Anything from ribbon, buttons, brads but most of all, I hoard DSP (Designer Series Paper)! I feel so much better now that I have gotten this off my chest, and just admitting this will help me keep on track with my new goal – any accesory I buy I must use ALL OF IT!! So, when I saw the new Holiday Mini preview at Convention this past July (one of the many perks I, as a SU! Convention attendee received for being there) I got so excited with all the new accesories, I felt like I was a kid at a candy store!! As soon as I saw the new Spice Cake DSP I knew I wanted to plan a class around it; I absolutely LOVE this DSP!!! Join me on September 20th for my Gently Falling card class, where we will be creating a box and 5 cards all using the Spice Cake DSP (you get 1/2 a pack included in the class fee) and the Gently Falling stamp set, which is also out of the New Holiday Mini (I love this set too….this truly has to be the best Mini YET!). Whatever DSP you don’t use during the class you will be able to take home to use on future creations! Here is a couple of pictures of the box we’ll be making and a sample of 1 of the 5 cards.

My good friend and fellow Demo, Amanda Kovacs and I designed the class with special thanks to another good friend and fellow Demo, Chrystal DeCoste for helping us out :) We got the box idea from a previous meeting our upline had last year and the above card was inspired by one created by SU! Demo Tammy Fite which you can see here.

I have limited space for this Gently Falling class, so make sure you email me ASAP to reserve your spot! I encourage all of you to stop hoarding those accessories, as they are much prettier on our creations than in a container in our stamp room :)

Happy Labour Day & Some More Sneak Peaks!

Happy Labour Day everyone!! I hope you all have enjoyed the last long weekend of the summer. Curtis and I joined some of my family up at my Grandparents place on Lake Clear up in the Ottawa Valley. We were up there celebrating a few birthdays – my Nan’s and my cousins’ Cassandra & Chris, as well as helping them get their house ready for the winter. We got back last night and after a good sleep I am ready for a day of stamping….it’s pretty dreary here in Ottawa today so I plan to take full advantage and get some stamping done (since I really can’t accomplish anything outside).

Next Sunday I’ll be holding the Button Buddies 3 x 3 class….I still have a few spots left, so you should email me now at melissa@stampingforthestars.com to reserve your spot!! Here is a sneak peak of 2 of the cards you’ll be making. During the class we’ll be creating 8 cards and a cute box to put them all in (including 8 envelopes); not only that you’ll also get 1/2 pack of Brights Designer Buttons and whatever you don’t use during the class you can bring home to use on your other creations!

I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend!! I’ll be posting another sneak peak tomorrow…..this is one you won’t want to miss!!
